EEK—it’s spooky season! Get into the Halloween spirit with Wine Guide and Guest Blogger Morgan Williams as she shares three spooky cocktail recipes for fall.
Recently, there’s been an uptick in people across the United States referring to October’s commencement as “spooky season.” As with most holiday seasons, this calls for a celebration.
Your fall parties may be spooky, but that doesn’t mean picking out wines has to be. Consider sharing these spooky cocktails at your parties and events all month long for a fun twist on traditional cocktails. Give these a try and let us know what you think!
Witching Hour Black Sangria

Feeling kind of witchy? This deep, dark, “black” sangria will brighten your Halloween mood!
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle (750ml) of Traveling Vineyard’s Ama Sempre
- 2 cups blackberries
- 4 black plums (sliced)
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 2 cups black grapes
- Optional – 1 cup of sparkling water
Directions (click to download):
- Add everything into a pitcher and stir thoroughly with a large spoon.
- Let it sit in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours. The longer it sits the darker the plums become, intensifying the festive look of your cocktail.
- Sip and enjoy!
Bloody Bellini

There’s no better way to celebrate any holiday than with a good glass of bubbly! This cocktail adds the perfect spooky touch with a bloody look.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Amarena cherry syrup (from the jar)
- 1 Amarena cherry
- 4 ounces bubbly – we recommend Traveling Vineyard’s Never Have I Ever (or Fissata Blonde if you like it a bit sweeter!)
Directions (click to download):
- Pour the Amarena cherry syrup into the center of a champagne flute (be careful not to drip it on the sides of the glass because the syrup is thick and will cling to the side).
- Drop the Amareno cherry into the syrup.
- Add your fizzy wine to the glass.
- Serve and enjoy!

Caramel Apple Sangria
An oldie, but goodie! ‘Nuff said!
Ingredients:
- 1 (750 ml) bottle of Traveling Vineyard’s Zapatazo or Jitterbug
- 1 cup caramel-flavored vodka
- 6 cups apple cider
- 2 medium apples – cored and chopped
Directions (click to download):
- Stir the wine, vodka, and apple cider together in a large pitcher.
- Add the chopped apples to the pitcher, or to individual glasses.
- Serve the sangria cold or over ice. Want to make it spooky? Serve it in a pitcher with some dry ice!
