Each of our Wine Guides are independent, small business owners sharing their love of wine through virtual wine tastings, in-home tastings, personal wine shopping, and so much more. Our 5 F’s—fun, flexibility, friendships, fulfillment, and financial rewards are a fundamental part of who we are and how our Wine Guides shine every day. In this blog series, we will be featuring different Wine Guides and highlighting their favorite of the 5 F’s. In this installment, Three-Star Leader, Daniel Kennedy highlights his favorite: fun.
Daniel’s Story
When someone asks “what do you do for fun?”, what comes to mind? I know for me that question can be a difficult one to answer, simply because it is so broad. However, let’s stop and think about it for a minute. It really isn’t that hard to answer when you really stop to reflect.
The definition of fun is enjoyment, amusement, entertaining, or lighthearted pleasure. We all have something in our lives that brings us enjoyment or entertainment – simply fun. For some, it’s going shopping or maybe just staying in and watching a movie. For others, it may be playing in the leaves with their kids or it could be going out to dinner with friends. Each and every one of us have something, no matter how small it may seem, that we find fun.
When I finally made the decision to become a Wine Guide, it was as if a light had clicked on like the high beams of a big rig on the highway.

For me, Traveling Vineyard came into my life at a time where I was not having very much fun at all. I was working in retail banking, had a stack of mounting bills, and was still recovering from a toxic relationship. I buried my head in work like an ostrich in the sand while life just kept moving on, with no real sense of direction. When I finally made the decision to become a Wine Guide, it was as if a light had clicked on like the high beams of a big rig on the highway.

I found a passion and a drive in my life, but most importantly I found fun again. I also discovered that the fun I found in Traveling Vineyard offset things in life that were not so fun. The fun of my Wine Guide business gave me a positive and healthy outlet when I was caring for my ailing father. It still provides me a fun outlet while managing the schedule and stress of owning a small business in my town.
Ever since becoming a Wine Guide, my sources of fun have grown and expanded. The friends I have met through Traveling Vineyard bring me every definition of the word fun. I enjoy hosting tastings for my guests, and have so much fun helping them find a new wine for them to fall in love with. Additionally, I have found fun in teaching about wine. So much so, that I have gone even further than the knowledge provided through Traveling Vineyard. I have attained wine education certifications to better aid my guests and fellow Wine Guides. After a long day, I still find entertainment in studying my wine books, discussing wine with my friends and family, and writing thank you cards to my guests.
For me, becoming a Wine Guide has been the most fun thing I’ve ever decided to jump into. It has given me so much more than I ever could have imagined possible.
