fissata blonde mimosa with orange juice

Recipe Round Up: Mimosas

While you might be foregoing that summer beach trip for a trip to your patio, you can always count on mimosas to put you in a vacation state-of-mind one sip at a time. And, because you need some good news in your life, we’ll let you in on a secret … May 16 is Mimosa Day, the perfect reason to test out a few new recipes and find your favorite for your upcoming, er, vacation. We asked Wine Guide Kisha Dlugos for the recipes she’s loving right now. So let’s open some sparkly wine and talk mimosas!

We’ll start strong with a mimosa that’s almost a dessert, because why not? Meet the Creamsicle Mimosa. There’s something agelessly appealing about creamsicle-flavored anything. Citrusy, smooth, perfectly sweet and fully loaded with childhood memories. Who knew that adding sparkling wine would make this creamy, dreamy dessert drink even better? The recipe (for falling in love) is pretty simple. It calls for orange juice, marshmallow vodka (swap vanilla vodka as desired), and something sparkly like our Fissata Blonde fizzy white wine, all topped with whipped cream. Lounge on the patio and drift away to the islands in 3 … 2 … 1 … ahhh.

Super easy mimosicle? Just add 1/2 pineapple orange juice and 1/2 Fissata Blonde to any freezable popsicle mold. Now you’re on vacation time.

Our next favorite recipe takes things to a whole new level with the addition of tequila. Oh, yes. We said tequila. No vacation cocktail is complete without a splash of tequila, so why not add it to your brunch mimosa? We say, olé! This recipe for a Mexican Mimosa by Garnish with Lemon is so simple. All you need is grapefruit juice, tequila, sparkling wine, and simple syrup. Our Fissata Blonde is sweet, so you might even be able to set aside the simple syrup if you’re choosing Fissata Blonde. To make this mimosa shine even brighter, serve up a Mexican-themed brunch with huevos rancheros, fruity mango salsa, and cinnamon-dusted tortilla chips. Yum!

Our final recommendation for a mimosa that will knock your flip-flops off is a Blood Orange Mimosa. The flavor of a blood orange is not the same as your everyday orange. Think less tang and more tart, like juicy berries. The gorgeous red coloring of the juice is enough to lure you in, but in this recipe from Tyler Florence, you’ll stay for the addition of orange liqueur. Once again, we recommend tasting your mixture before adding the sugar mentioned in the recipe because our Fissata Blonde is a sweetie.

Now that you have a few new mimosa recipes to try, you’re closer to a vacation state-of-mind. Plus, we’re offering free shipping when you buy six or more bottles of wine right now, so it’s a great time to stock up on Fissata Blonde for your summer celebrations and Sunday brunches. Be sure and share your #happywinemoments with us on Instagram by mentioning @travelingvineyard. We love wine eye candy. Cheers!
