Perique, 2012 Vin de Pays d'Oc, Pinot Noir
Taste
Raspberries and blackberries with a hint of floral/herbal scent that mimics lavender
Varietal
100% Pinot Noir (rarely ever blended)
Region
Pinot Noir is known to be a cool climate grape. The high elevation at which these grapes were grown equates to cooler temperatures which in turn contributes to the fruity character of the wine. Older vines give the wine concentrated flavors for depth and character which will only improve in the coming years.
Winemaking
Using the analogy that naturally better (looking) wine benefits from more (make up) time in oak, we extended the amount of time in oak to temper the earthiness and concentrate the wine a bit.

I loved this wine! It is smooth and not too dry. The fruity tones are not overpowering. It may be my new favorite red!! The decanter increased the smoothness and I cannot wait to enjoy it.

I was very surprised by this wine. It was very smooth without the "dry" tang of a red wine.

I loved this wine, and I am an exclusive white wine drinker. I just don't like reds! Definitely a great choice for a crowd of varied palates.
