Marula, Pinotage, Western Cape, South Africa - 2014
Taste
A rustic wine with Pinot Noir sensibilities. The nose and palate are redolent of black plum, blackberry and smoke followed by a bit of orange peel and coffee. Mouthfeel is supple and lip-smacking, wonderfully long finish.
Varietal
100% Pinotage
Region
Western Cape, South Africa
Winemaking
Two days cold soaking, followed by tradition-al maceration. Wine was aged on French oak staves for 12 months to impart an accessible, balanced wine with fruit-enhanced tannins.

LOVE this wine. Very rich tasting but not heavy, not bitter. Would be a nice bottle to bring to a friend's for dinner or to a BYOB.

I am usually a white wine girl, and this is a red I could love - very smooth and easy to drink.

I found the Pinotage to be "kind" to my taste sensibilities and a nice addition to certain food.
