Our customers and Wine Guides are always giving our Traveling Vineyard wines high marks, but when those same favorites take home medals—well, that’s what we call a wine-win. This month, we have THREE new medals to announce!
“I wish the wine fairy would send me some of this amazing wine!” – Lindsay Hauk-Ingham
Psst, Lindsay. We call them Wine Guides, and they absolutely do make wine wishes come true.
First, here’s a little background. These wines were rated by the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago in what’s called the World Wine Championships. Traveling Vineyard’s wine director, Francis Sanders, says a World Wine Championship win is extra special because along with the medal—GOLD, SILVER, or BRONZE—industry experts also provide a review detailing exactly what they like about the wine.
We submitted a few fan favs and here’s what happened.
2014 LUXX Happy Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon
SILVER – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
“Nearly opaque violet color. Attractive aromas and flavors of chocolate toffee, caramelized berries, and a hint of bouillon with a supple, vibrant, fruity medium-to-full body and an interesting, medium-long dried berries and cherries, minerals, delicate spice, and cedar finish with fine, chewy tannins and a suggestion of oak. A nice chewy cabernet.”
Good stuff, right? We delivered the happy news on our social channels during the Oscars and received some great feedback from our fans. In fact, Wine Guide Allison Bremner was already one glass into LUXX. “Sipping on this beauty right now while watching the Oscars!” That’s so LUXX.
2015 Beeline Lodi Symphony
SILVER – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
“Bright golden color. Aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, tropical fruit salad, and dried apricot with a satiny, vibrant, fruity medium body and a sleek, intriguing finish with fine, fruit tannins and no oak. A very tasty floral sipper.”
The Beeline announcement had fans and Wine Guides all abuzz because Beeline is such a great sipping wine AND it pairs well with ethnic foods and lemon dishes (yum). Beeline Bonus? Our Wine Guides have discovered that Beeline makes a perfect wine cocktail mixer. “One of my all-time favs,” says Nicole Fuss.
2015 Bentgate California Cabernet Sauvignon
BRONZE – RECOMMENDED
“Bright dark garnet color. Aromas and flavors of blue fruits and crème de cassis, dried plums, toast points, and dried flowers with a tangy, dry medium-full body and a refreshing, brisk finish with woody, crunchy tannins and light oak.”
Bentgate fans were happy to see this bold California Cab recognized, noting that it pairs well with red meat—and is a natural choice for a swank wine dinner. What does Francis think? Throw some burgers on the grill and open a bottle of Bentgate! It’s that versatile.
Winning sure tastes great. We can’t wait to see what medals are ahead for our wines.
In the meantime, enjoy these award-winners. Cheers!
