It takes months, and sometimes years, of watching and waiting (and sampling) high-quality wines from growers across the globe for our expert team to find the wines that deserve the Traveling Vineyard label—and bring them to you at prices that fit a real-life budget. We’ve proven year after year that real good wine doesn’t have to cost hundreds of dollars. In 2021 we’re proud that 15 more of our wines have earned that proof by receiving medals from distinguished judges across multiple international wine competitions. Here are our best of 2021 award winning wines!
Gold Medal Wines
Three wines earned top honors of Gold in 2021.
2020 Flores de Beco, Alentejo Red: Pop the cork on our gold winning red, Flores de Beco. This Alentejo Red earned Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. Flores de Beco is a Portuguese red with components of Touriga Nacional, Syrah, and Alicante Bouschet, best known for their full body and rich aromas. The Alentejo blend’s lead component, Touriga Nacional, delivers body with rich aromas and flavors of blueberry, plum, blackberry and bittersweet cocoa with touches of mint and violets. Blended with Syrah for color and a touch of sleekness, and red-fleshed Alicante Bouschet that contributes spicy, smokey, jammy flavors. Flores de Beco is a bold red blend that brings Portugal to your front door. Led by the country’s famous red grape Touriga Nacional, the wine marries it with Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. With floral and dark berry aromas followed by jammy fruit flavors and a touch of cocoa—it’s a Portuguese star. SHOP NOW

2016 Jack Canyon, Wahluke Slope Malbec, Washington (out of stock): This wine is everything you expect in a Malbec—full bodied, earthy, and jammy with a long, lovely finish. Jack Canyon earned a Gold medal and 91 point rating at the World Wine Championships, marking this wine “exceptional.” The judges described this wine as having “aromas and flavors of chocolate-covered toffee, pickled berries, spiced plums, and blueberry crêpes. A voluptuous, chocolatey Malbec that delivers brooding fruit and spice.”
2016 Tanglerose, Front Porch Red, Washington (out of stock): This red blend is a seamless combination of coffee, cherry, and cedar aromas with a smooth yet vibrant texture showcasing the elegance of a Washington wine. Tanglerose earned a Gold award at the 2021 Critic’s Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition. It’s a red for grillin’ and chillin’, and pairs with s’mores around the fire pit or with a fireplace on a chilly night in.

2019 Jitterbug, Lodi Sauvignon Blanc: Sip back and get your happy hour on with our award-winning 2019 Jitterbug, Lodi Sauvignon Blanc, California. Jitterbug is a light-to-medium bodied white with a floral, integrated nose of herbs, pineapple, and grapefruit in equal parts. It has a good weight, feel, balance, and extraction—and tastes as it smells with grapefruit dominating. This fan favorite Sauvignon Blanc earned a silver award at the World Wine Championships. Judges said this white was “smooth with a rapid spritz of lemon and underripe stone fruit finish. A crisp white perfect to pair with shellfish.” SHOP NOW
2020 Pearls & Kicks, Rosé: This dry, classically crisp pink drink sports juicy fruit flavors of wild berry, watermelon, and citrus. A Rosé everyone can love earned a silver medal at the Critic’s Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition. A Rosé sipper that will take you from pearls to kicks, where elegance meets sass by the glass. This wine is dedicated to the hustlers and dreamers that show up every day with purpose and passion. Slay the day, then Rosé. This wine has a nose of white flowers, crushed red berries, watermelon rind, melon flesh, and golden delicious apples with a hint of stone fruits. It has good fresh structural acidity, good weight, feel and extraction. This rosé tastes as it smells, dominated by crisp red berry and juicy melon rind with good length of flavors and length of finish. SHOP NOW

2016 Woodvale Estates, Merlot: Merlot is a fan favorite because of its smooth, pleasing character. Our Director of Sommology Leslie Sbrocco refers to it as “the cashmere of the wine world.” What makes Washington Merlot special is its unique intensity. With bolder tannins, vibrant acidity, brown-spiced aromas, and fruity flavors, this is a supple sipper. The judges at the World Wine Championships said this silver award winner was a “vibrant, fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, complex, long finish. This wine has nuances of strawberry, coconut, chocolate, and roasted hazelnut with light oak flavor. A lighter-bodied yet boldly fruit Merlot with instantly appealing fruity aromas.” SHOP NOW
2020 Avincerre, Marche Rosso: A beautiful Italian blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon with bold, fruity, cherry-berry flavors. Our version of a “Super Tuscan” blend comes from the Marches region—essentially at the same latitude as the heart of Tuscany. It’s an Italian red to love, and earned a silver award at the 2020 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Pair Avincerre with filet mignon, pasta dishes, and Friday night pizza. SHOP NOW

2020 La Screaming Goat, Gewürztraminer: This limited quantity release is among the finest Gewürztraminers Traveling Vineyard has ever put in the bottle. Whether sourced from France’s Midi, or Sonoma Countys, this French Gewürztraminer is one for the books. The combination of perfume, spice, and minerality give this wine the dual ability to please a first-time drinker and a more sophisticated palate. The grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to retain the pristine quality of the wine’s more delicate flavors. The judges at the World Wine Championships awarded this white with a bronze medal, “La Screaming Goat is a piquant aromas and a creamy mouthfeel combine with funky, unexpected aromas; a Gewurtz for the adventurous.” SHOP NOW
2020 Chiacchierone, Terre Siciliane Catarratto, Italy: Our very first Catarratto, hailing from the island of Sicily – this trendy wine is a splash of Mediterranean sunshine in your glass. This crisp wine is a unique and delicious sipper, and earned a silver medal at the 2021 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Made with Catarratto—a white grape from the island of Sicily—this wine is a splash of sunshine in your glass. No oak is used, only stainless steel tanks, to showcase the grape’s lemony aromas and nutty undertones.
